Here David Collins Studio have created a theatrical display for the restaurant's extensive world class wine collection. This vaulted passageway paved in limestone and lined with exquisite glass-fronted wine cabinets evokes the rarefied air of an oenological treasure trove - there is no doubt this is the wine cellar of a connoisseur. David Collins Studio has transformed the existing restaurant into a graceful lozenge-shape by dramatically restructuring the internal architecture. The ceiling height has been reduced to create elegant dining proportions and the sweeping arc of the original window bay is replicated with a new curved opposite wall, while banquette seating integrated at both ends enhances the sense of harmony and order. Brushed gilded timber wall panelling and a trio of bespoke antique brass chandeliers, bearing lanterns inspired by Chinese bells, complement the inherent grandeur of the room. Subtle mid-level lighting, integrated into the rear of the banquettes imbues the space with a shimmering, golden light. Contemporary Orientalism resonates in details such as the refined silk Chinoiserie screens integrated into the central banquette seating. Custom-designed dining chairs upholstered in embossed leathers in a palette of pale gold, jade green and pastel blue lend a fresh, contemporary feel.
